Earth Day!

Earth Day is here, and what a great way to integrate Science into our classrooms.

Looking for a few great ideas, try...
Planting a garden: All student love planting trees, grass, plants, and seeds. Make this a fun experiment in your classrom.

Recycled Obstacle Course: After learning about everything that can be recycled, have students collect recyclable objects at home and at school. You can set up an obstacle course where they sort the recycled objects and stuff that must go in the trash.

Saving Lake Michigan: Since we live so close to Lake Michigan, brainstorm ways that you and your students can keep the beaches and lake clean. Talk about the life that lives in the lake and why is it necessary for our survival. Have student make brochures to pass out around the school on keeping Lake Michigan clean!

Trash Pick Up: A great way to emphasis how littering ruins our environment. Make sure the students have "clean up gloves" and trash bags and head outside to beautify around the school. Even doing this in hallways and bathrooms is a great reminder for students!

Art Recycling Project: Have students bring in all sorts of recycled objects from home (paper towel rolls, newspapers, etc) and have them create a piece of art!

Save the Earth Pledges: Have students make a pledge to how they will save the Earth, "Pick up trash", "Ride my bike", etc.
