Do Students Know Their Schedule For the Day???

We have all heard that structure and consistency is crucial to good classroom management.


Having a posted schedule each day is a great was to have the needed structure in your own room. Students excel when they feel safe. If they know what they are going to be doing each day, student feel safe. Also, keeping your schedule the same from day to day helps students stay organized at a young age. Create a schedule that works well for you and your students, and that can be kept consistent from day to day.


Here is a sample schedule:
9:00-9:15 Morning Work
9:15-9:30 Morning Meeting
9:30-10:30 Reading Workshop and Centers
10:30-11:00 Math Lesson
11:00-11:20 Math Centers
11:20-11:30 Bathroom Break
11:30-11:50 Lunch
11:50-12:10 Read Aloud
12:10-12:45 Writers Workshop
12:45-1:30 Special (Gym, Libary, Art)
1:30-2:10 Science
2:10-2:40 Social Studies
2:40-2:45 Clean Up, Homework


Here is a picture of a First Grade Schedule. Notice how there are words and pictures. This helps to create a print rich environment.
